Many people believe that we don't need to learn it because we have out local languages, but the truth is that we need to learn every part of it, so that we can communicate without much errors.  Here are some of the mistakes we make and the correct form of it: 1. Advise and Advice : Advise is a verb while Advice is a noun. Example. Don't say, I have an advise for you, but say, I have an advice for you.  2. Between and Among : Between is when you are referring to two persons while among is when you are referring to more than two persons.  3. Compliment and Complement:  Compliment is when you are saying something nice, like you look good: thanks for your compliment. While Complement means added to. Eg: I will wear glasses to complement my looks.  4. Stop Saying "I Slept by 9pm" Here is the Correct Thing to Say

Image
English might be our official language but it is not our native or indigenous language, this is why making mistakes is compulsory. But it is always good that when we notice some of our mistakes we tend to correct it so that it doesn't take place in the future. This is because when those people that originally own this language hear you say some of these things, they might think you are an uneducated person while you are. So to avoid this, it is best that you know the correct way some simple English words and phrases are used. So in today's lecture, my main focus is on one phrase which is commonly used in almost every part of the country and that is  "I slept by 9pm" . Most people think that this phrase is right but it is completely wrong. The correct thing to say is "I went to bed by 9pm"  the reason why you should put it in this manner is because you only know when you go to bed to take your sleep, but you don't know that exact time you doze

Don't say " I am the last born," as in the first revision. Saying " I am the last kid in the family" will help it sound more official. 2. Do not use the frequent, but incorrect, phrase "I saw your missed calls." "I missed your calls" is the proper phrase to use. 3. Say: Let's say the grace. Don't Say: "Let's share the grace."  This is a typical phrase among teachers in our secondary schools, but it's incorrect. 4. Don't say, "I'd like to get my hair shaved," which is a familiar refrain, but is incorrect.  You should use the correct phrase "I want my hair cut" or "I want my hair trimmed" instead. 5.
