At the commissioning of the road linking Nguru-Gashu’a-Bayamari, the President outlined the major causes of damage on the Nigerian roads.
He listed the causes to include the overloading of vehicles and trucks which accelerates pavement damage, the spilling of petroleum products which dissolves all the components and allow water to penetrate and convert the road shoulders into parking places.

3. Benue Will Oppose Any Plan To Pass Water Resources Bill – Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has said that the State is not in support of the reintroduction of the National Water Resources Bill in the National Assembly.
Recall that the bill sponsored by Hon. Sada Soli (APC – Katsina) was initially passed in 2020 by the House of Representatives but was later withdrawn following criticisms from some Nigerians.
The bill, which seeks to establish an act that would provide a regulatory framework for the nation’s water resources, was re-introduced on the floor of the Green Chamber and was rejected by two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers.
However, the bill eventually passed the first reading at the Green Chamber on Tuesday after the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the bill’s sponsor informed him that Governors and the Attorney-General of States, made input and agreed that the bill is reintroduced.
Reacting in a statement issued on Sunday his spokesman, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom said the bill is anti-federalism, obnoxious and negates the right of Nigerians to their ancestral resources.
The Benue governor asserted that the North Central state is against the bill and should therefore be counted out of any discussion that pertains to the bill.
He stressed that the bill seeks to take over water resources which rightfully belong to states, calling on other state governments to kick against the bill.
4. Do Not Play With Fire – HURIWA Warns INEC On APC, Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has ahead of the 2023 presidential election, warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against playing to the plight of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the All Progressives Congress.
Naija News reports that the Rights group berated the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu‘s choice of running mate, saying the decision will further heighten the aggression against the Christians by bandits and other terrorists groups in the country.
HURIWA in a statement signed and released on Sunday by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko argued that the emergence of a Muslim-Muslim ticket presidency will further heighten the aggression against Christians by bandits and terrorists who claim allegiance to Islam.
Naija News understands there are suggestions that Tinubu may in the next few days confirm either Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State or Senator Kashim Shettima as his standard running mate for the 2023 election to beat the July 15 deadline by the INEC.
Despite calls for a Muslim-Christian ticket, the ruling party had refused to bow to the pressure as about 13 Muslim northern governors are said to be pressuring Tinubu to choose them because they backed his candidacy during the fiercely-contested APC primary.
HURIWA has, however, bemoaned the ruling party’s bid saying it is unconstitutional and violates Section 14 (3) and (4) and Section 318 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which specifically states that the principle of federal character should be reflected in the composition of the government and that no group, religious or ethnic, should dominate the other.

He had urged members of the church not to be afraid to attend church programmes because of the recent terrorist attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
Clarifying his sermon on Sunday during the monthly Thanksgiving Service, Adeboye said he never asked Christians to go and buy guns.
He, however, asked Nigerian Christians to make sure that unwanted visitors don’t come to churches and kill innocent citizens.
Adeboye also urged Christians to pray agent the plans of the devil to depopulate the kingdom of God.

According to Okechukwu who is a founding member and chieftain of the APC, some other presidential candidates of other parties have run foul of what Nigerians expect and would therefore not get the votes of the people.
The VON boss who spoke at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja said the emergence of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) negate the principles of rotation as the south is expected to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added that he has an assurance of Tinubu’s victory because the APC as the ruling party has 22 sitting Governors, the majority of the National Assembly and all these people and other political appointees won’t betray the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

Obiozor described the outcome of the presidential primaries of the two major parties as gross injustice against the Igbo beyond expectations.
He accused the country’s political elite to have successfully orchestrated to deny the South-East an opportunity to produce the president of Nigeria come 2023.
