1. Dino Melaye Backs Ekweremadu, Gives Reason

Former Kogi Central Senator, Dino Melaye has reacted to the arrest of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, in the United Kingdom.
Naija News had earlier reported that Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested in London by the Specialist Crime Team of the UK Metropolitan Police for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organ of a child.

In a statement on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the pair conspired to facilitate the travel of a child to the country in order to harvest the minor’s organ.

2. We Are Weighing All Options – Wike’s Ally Claims

The recent visit of members of the opposition party, starting from the governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has raised questions in the Peoples Democratic Party.

Wike has remained silent on the activities of the PDP after losing the presidential ticket of the party to Atiku Abubakar and the opportunity of emerging as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

3. Court adjourns judgment on Igboho’s appeal

The Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division, has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Federal Government against the N20.5bn damages awarded in favour of Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho against the Department of State Services.

Igboho’s counsel, Chief Yomi Aliyyu (SAN), told journalists on Wednesday after court session that the case had been adjourned for judgment.

He said the court would communicate the exact date for the judgment to the parties in the suit.

Journalists as well as supporters of Igboho, who had thronged the court, were barred from entering the court premises.

4. Zamfara: Bandits kill lecturer after collecting N5 million ransom

Mr. Sanusi Halilu Kaura, a lecturer at Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in Zamfara State, who doubled as the Students’ Affairs Officer of the institution, has been killed by his abductors.

He was killed after the payment of five million naira ransom for his freedom.

DAILY POST gathered that Kaura was killed after five weeks of his abduction.

According to a source close to the family, the five million naira ransom was paid to the bandits on Tuesday in a bush near some villages along Kaduna-Zaria road, in Kaduna State.

5. Police kill bandit, recover 2 guns, motorcycle in Kaduna

Police in Kaduna State have killed one bandit and recovered one AK49 gun and one locally fabricated.

The spokesman, DSP Mohammed Jalige confirmed the incident.

He said the tactical operation followed a distress call that some bandits were sighted on the Galadimawa-Kidandan Road in Giwa Local Government Area of the state.
