His Own People Are Already Condemning Him, I Feel Sorry For Him - Reno Reacts To Ekweremadu's Arrest
Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the arrest of Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, in the United Kingdom. Reno Omokri said that it is sad that Ekweremadu's people are condemning him already even when he has not been convicted for the alleged crime.
On Thursday, Arise TV reported that Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested in the UK for bringing a child into the UK for organ harvesting.
The statement read - "Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting."
The statement also added - "Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting. They have both been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court..."
According to media reports, the alleged victim is a homeless 15-year-old boy which Ike Ekweremadu and his wife picked from the streets of Lagos and took to the UK.
In his reaction, Reno Omokri hinted that the couple should not be condemned until they are found guilty of the charges.
The arrest of Ekweremadu and his wife came as a surprise to Nigerians, but just as Reno Omokri said, an accusation is not a conviction. So many are waiting to see how the case will end.
