PDP's southeast presidential aspirants demand presidential ticket in the spirit of fairness

Presidential aspirants of southeast extraction on the platform of the PDP has demanded that the party should micro-zone it's presidential ticket to the southeast region of the country in the spirit of fairness, equity and reciprocity.

It is on record that no southeasterner has ever contested and won a presidential election from independence till date.

The presidential hopefuls who made this demand are former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Peter Obi who is a former governor of Anambra state, Sam Ohuabunwa and Nwachukwu Anakwenze.

They made the statement during a media briefing in Abuja. They said that they will come together as a team to ensure that one of them from the southeast region is elected during the party's primaries to fly the party's flag in the presidential election.

They also appealed to candidates from other geo-political zones to co-operate with them by working to ensure that the ticket is eventually given to a southeasterner.

In their words, they said that the southeast has always supported other zones in previous elections and it is necessary for these other zones to reciprocate by supporting the southeast in its quest to obtain the presidential ticket of the PDP.

This is coming after southern governors elected on the platform of the PDP demanded that the party zones it's presidential ticket to the south.
