Ghana-Nigeria: Reno Omokri defends Players and Coach
Reno Omokri, author, businessman, and socialite, dropped another one of his many expository nuggets on his verified Facebook page on Friday, 25th of March, on the World cup qualifiers match that was being played between Ghana and Nigeria.
The Ghana-Nigeria football rivalry is largely considered the oldest in West Africa. The 'British' neighbours have rivalled each other on almost every level. Ghana and Nigeria have faced each other 56 times in all competitions (including friendlies); Ghana has had 25 wins while Nigeria has 12 wins. 19 of their matches have ended in a draw. With a ticket to the World cup at stake, the two teams and their supporters anticipated the match on Friday with high expectations.
During the match, the displeasure of Nigerians towards the formation and the way the players were playing was evident across social media platforms.
To this effect, Reno advised that Nigerians should only say positive teams about their team and the coach, Eguavoen. And that t hey should only give criticisms after the match. He advised that Nigerians should project their faith, support, mental and physical powers in the team by believing they would win.
The intensive match ended in a deadlock, as both teams couldn't come up with a winner. They shared the point in Kumasi, Ghana. The return leg will be played on Tuesday, 29th of March, in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
