2023: Anyone Above 70yrs Should Abstain From Contesting Presidency - Says Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has advised anybody above the age of 70 not to contest for the president of Nigeria, instead allowing younger people who are skilled and aware about new trends totake over the country's leadership.

The Governor made the call while  hosting former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governors Aminu Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed of Sokoto and Bauchi states, respectively, who were in the state to consult with him on the consensus arrangement they initiated to reduce the number of presidential aspirants on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP platform.

He praised them for taking the initiative, describing the leaders as well-informed individuals who had fought for the nationand were now serving in various capacities.

"Nigerians can attest that throughout their tenure at the federal level, they did extremely well and delivered on their promise," the Governor remarked. And they are now more than qualified to govern this country.
