The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State,  has described the emergence of Dr  Ifeanyi Odii as its governorship candidate  the greatest nightmare of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State. A member of the party Presidential/Governorship Media Committee Mr Osita Kalu, made the assertion in a Statement issued on Monday  in Abakaliki the State capital. Mr Kalu was reacting to a Statement credited to the Ebonyi State APC Chairman Chief Stanley Emegha, alluding that Mr Odii’s emergence signalled the extinction of PDP in the State. The Statement noted that Chief Emegha position has  exposed the party  myopic understanding of rudimentary politics. Rev. Fr. Raymond Ifeanyi Eselu, a Catholic priest, was killed in a car accident in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. On August 17, 2022, a collision happened in front of St. Theresa’s Cathedral in Abakaliki. According to reports, the priest left the church in his car after attending the funeral of one of his coworkers, Rev. Fr. Christopher Nnachi Agwu. Eselu served as the parish priest of St. Patrick’s parish in Ezza-Ofu, Ebonyi state, until his death. On August 18, the priest’s sudden death was announced by the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki. A statement signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Mathew Uzoma Opoke, described Eselu as a jovial and dedicated priest who took delight in the celebration of Mass. “We are hopeful that God, for who, he served, would prepare a banquet full of good things for the one who has served in his vineyard in so remarkable a manner. A federal high court sitting in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State capital has disqualified the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi and his younger brother, Chief Austin Umahi from contesting the senatorial election as the candidate of the  All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ebonyi South, GRASSROOT REPORTERS has gathered.
